Daily Leather Watch Strap Care
Taking care of a leather watch strap on a daily basis is the key to making it easy to maintain. Wearing leather on a daily basis exposes it to dirt and oils that dull the surface and cause them to have bad odours. Caring for it on a daily basis ensures that the leather looks and smells good for as long as possible. Users should allow the leather watchband to breathe by removing it while sleeping and bathing. Protecting it from water and moisture as much as possible also helps with odours.
Note: Avoid bending the Leather Strap as it may cause creasing. To remove the watch safely pull the band (Tighten) the strap to avoid creasing.
Weekly Leather Watch Strap Cleaning
More in-depth cleaning on a weekly basis also helps people go longer between cleanings while maintaining the appearance. On a weekly basis, watch owners should use a damp cloth to wipe down the entire surface. They should pay close attention spots with dirt and gently scrub them away. Users should make sure that they give it ample time to air dry before wearing it again. When choosing a cloth to clean the watch strap, users should select a microfiber cloth or other soft cloth that does not scratch or damage the surface of the leather.
Thorough Leather Watch Strap Cleaning
To avoid damaging the mechanical parts of the watch, users should detach the watch strap from the watch for a more thorough cleaning. Watch owners start by thoroughly wiping the watch down with a damp cloth. Next, they place a small dab of moisturising hand soap on the soft cloth and scrub both sides of the watch strap. Use a Cue Tip to clean in inaccessible locations with medium to hard force. Use a damp cloth to wipe away the soapy residue.
Users should allow the strap to dry completely before wearing it again.
Remove Odours from a Leather Watch Strap
If the watch strap has stubborn stains and odours, then watch owners can remove them with a simple homemade compound. Baking soda removes odours effectively without damaging the leather. Users should make a paste out of 1 tablespoon of baking soda and 1 tablespoon of water. They rub the paste on both sides of the watch strap and allow it to sit for an hour. To remove it, they wipe it away with a damp cloth and allow it to dry completely before attaching the strap to the watch.
